About SmartBed

SmartBed is an IoT sensor solution for beds in the the healthcare sector. It monitors the presence, position or absence of patients. Because our population gets older and older and thus requires more and more care. Qualified nursing staff is scarce and are under ever-increasing pressure. Especially at night, there is often lack of qualified staff. Usually only a few people have to take care of entire wards and many beds. Often, the financial situation of hospitals and retirement homes is also very tight. SmartBed also prevents bedsores (decubitus). The SmartBed sensor solution can reduce the workload of nursing staff and improve patient care. With the innovative SmartBed an extra pair of eyes is watching.

Monitoring leads to improved care and support

The sensors in SmartBed register the position as well as the presence or absence of the patient. It can also detect whether a patient is sitting on the edge of the bed or has turned around. Monitoring these conditions minimises alarms and reduces the staff's workload.

The prevention of bedsores (decubitus) is important in healthcare. Preventive measures to turn patients every 3 to 4 hours are very labour intensive. Many patients also turn themselves. However, normally the nursing staff in hospitals and care homes can not notice this, and therefore carries out the preventive truning actions anyway.

SmartBed monitors which patients turn over by themselves, because the sensors register the body posture. These paThrough this monitoring, appropriate preventive measures can be planned better.

Information on your smartphone or pager

The intelligent sensor module, which is placed under the bed, is connected to the IT systems currently used in the healthcare sector. These can be both existing and new platforms. Through the device (e.g. the carer's mobile phone or tablet), the desired alarm reaches the end device.
