Fujifilm Measurement Foils
Fujifilm Measurement Foils are revolutionary measurement foils that enable you to measure pressure distribution, heat distribution and UV light distribution. Observe easily the variation in density and hue (range of coloring) and measure accurate by using software. Each foil has its own application.
The thermo foil is ideal for applications such as heat sealed packages and heat distribution during press. The UV foils are often used for UV sterilization of food packaging. The pressure foils are ideal to measure impact, medical pressure (such as orthopedics), compression and contact pressure.
For accurate analysis and quantification, the Althen Fujifilm software is necessary.
What are the advantages of Fujifilm measurement foils?
- Easy handling: The foils are thin, flexible and easy to handle. They can be easily applied to surfaces and do not require complex installation or calibration.
- Fast results: The foils allow for quick acquisition of pressure distribution patterns or load data. After the load is applied to the film, the colour change occurs immediately, allowing for instant evaluation.
- Wide pressure ranges: Fujifilm measurement foils are available in different variants that can cover a wide range of pressure loads. This makes them versatile and allows them to be used in a wide range of applications.
- Cost-effectiveness: Compared to conventional pressure sensors, Fujifilm measurement foils can provide a cost-effective solution. They offer a good balance between performance and cost and can be an economical alternative in many cases.
- Flexibility: The foils can be applied to uneven or curved surfaces, enabling their application in different environments and industries. They can also be cut or customised to meet specific requirements.
- Visualisation: The colour change on the foil surface enables a visual representation of the pressure distribution or load pattern. This makes it easier to interpret the results and enables quick identification of problem areas or imbalances.
Possible applications for Fujifilm measurement foils
- Medical applications: Pressure distribution measurements in orthopaedics, e.g. for analysing the pressure distribution under orthopaedic insoles or seat cushions; pressure measurements in the manufacture of medical devices such as prostheses or orthopaedic implants
- Industrial applications: Contact surface analysis during assembly or testing of components to ensure even pressure or correct fit; monitoring pressure distributions in the production of electronic devices or semiconductor components
- Quality assurance in the automotive industry, e.g. when checking seals or analysing pressure distributions in vehicle interiors
- Aerospace: analysing pressure distributions on aircraft components or cabins to ensure passenger safety and comfort; monitoring pressure distributions on rockets or satellites during launch and operation
- Sports and ergonomics: pressure distribution measurements in sports shoes or bicycle saddles to optimise comfort and performance; analysis of seat pressure distributions in vehicles or furniture for ergonomic design and comfort improvements
- Packaging industry: testing pressure distributions in packaging materials or machines to ensure the quality and reliability of packaging solutions
- Research and development: Use in laboratories to measure pressure distributions in various experiments or research projects; use in the development of new products or technologies to optimise their performance and functionality
How do measurement foils work?
Fujifilm metrology films are special films manufactured by Fujifilm for metrology applications. These films are usually thin, flexible and transparent. They contain microcapsules with chemical substances that react to pressure and cause a colour change on the film surface.
The functionality of Fujifilm measurement technology films is based on the principle of pressure measurement through colour change. When a mechanical load is applied to the film, the pressure at this point is increased. The microcapsules in the film burst under pressure, causing the chemical substances to be released and react with the reagents present in the film. This reaction leads to a visible colour change on the surface of the film. The intensity and colour of the colour change then correlate with the pressure exerted on the film.
These metrology films are used in various applications, for example in pressure distribution measurement in medicine, in contact surface analysis of technical components or in stress analysis of surfaces. They offer the advantage of easy handling, fast evaluation and can be a cost-effective alternative to other pressure sensors.
