Record many pressure measuring points with just one device
Althen pressure measurement systems can measure multiple pressure points simultaneously. One such application is measuring pressure distributions across the surface of a vehicle’s body. This is done by taking a series of adjacent pressure measurements and transmitting the measurement signals to a data logger. Benefit from our extensive range of electronic pressure measurement systems and pitot tubes for a wide variety of applications.
We offer standard pressure and temperature measurement system, but can also help you with a customised design or a complete measurement solution
Althen offers a comprehensive programme of flow meters. These allow you to measure the velocities of the associated vectors with high precision, specialising in the aviation, automotive, wind turbine and wind tunnel testing industries.
We supply dynamic pressure probes from Aeroprobe, one of the leading manufacturers of Pitot and Prandtl probes. Aeroprobe products allow you to measure air and flow data with high precision - and in real time. This makes your operation more efficient and improves your technology. Our portfolio of pitot tubes covers standard applications as well as unusual and complex test scenarios, for example for extreme temperatures - high and low.
Dynamic pressure probes are instruments used to measure the dynamic pressure created when a fluid (e.g. air or water) flows against a surface. These probes are based on the principle of dynamic pressure, which states that the pressure of a fluid increases as it flows through a constriction and that this pressure is proportional to the velocity of the fluid. A typical pitot tube consists of a conical probe or pipe that is open at one end and connected to a manometer or pressure sensor. The probe is designed to capture the back pressure of the fluid as it flows against the tip of the probe. When the fluid flows against the tip of the probe, the dynamic pressure is generated, which is proportional to the velocity of the fluid. This pressure is measured by a pressure sensor or manometer connected to the probe. The velocity of the fluid can be calculated by measuring the dynamic pressure. This conversion is carried out using a suitable calibration that indicates the relationship between the measured pressure and the velocity of the fluid.
The accuracy of pitot tubes depends on a number of factors, including the accuracy of the pressure sensor or manometer, the calibration of the tube, the flow conditions and the ambient temperature. Careful calibration and verification are important to ensure accurate measurement results.Overall, pitot tubes are important instruments for measuring flow velocities in various applications and play an important role in collecting and analysing flow data.
We have the right pressure and temperature measurement system for every application. We are happy to support you in your selection. At Althen, we draw on more than 45 years of experience to offer you the optimum solution: fully customised to your requirements. This also includes customised measuring systems as a complete package. The advantage for you is that we are not tied to one manufacturer and can advise you independently. On request, we can customise the measuring system exactly to your needs. Do you have any questions? We are here to help you!

Air flow measurement in an electric private aeroplane: The Silverwing electric aeroplane from TU-Delft has a flow sensor consisting of a 5-hole pitot tube and an on-board measuring unit. Flow parameters such as airspeed, angle of attack and side-slip angle ensure that the aircraft can fly stably and efficiently.
Pressure sensors for the Delft Hyperloop braking system: In 2019, the Dutch Delft Hyperloop student team will once again take part in the competition for the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod. Pressure sensors from Althen provide the team with real-time information about the pressure in the braking system.
We offer standard pressure and temperature measurement systems but can also help you with a customized design or a complete measurement solution.
