Althen supports the Kelkheim fire brigade

The highlights included various fire drills such as extinguishing a fire container in which a flat fire was simulated. After a briefing on safety measures and objectives, as well as checking the equipment and putting on protective gear, the fire container was ignited in a controlled manner. The firefighters first observed the development of the fire and then started to fight the fire using breathing apparatus and various extinguishing techniques. Once the main fire had been extinguished, embers were checked and extinguished. A spectacular event for the spectators!

The Kelkheim rescue divers demonstrated how to put on their protective equipment and then dived into a large water tank. All sorts of entertaining attractions were then shown underwater, including a card game between the divers and various tasks such as drilling, flexing and sawing. There was a special treat for the children: the divers played tic-tac-toe with them on the fogged-up windscreen.

As part of the event, there was also the opportunity to slip into the role of a fireman or firewoman for once. Visitors were able to put on the full fire service uniform and try their hand at various exercise stations under expert guidance. These included, for example, breaking open a steel practice door, operating the fire extinguishers and even cutting open a car.
