Inductive sensors for a damp and high temperature environment
It sounds like a simple process, but a manufacturing paper is extremely complex. Tight controlling of the process is necessary to guarantee superb paper quality. Controlling the position of the tape that carries the drying of the pulp across the fast spinning rollers is crucial in order to prevent breakages. A Paper Manufacturer needed a sensor to determine the position of the tape and passes it to the PLC (programmable logic controller). The whole paper machine is 300 meters long, 9 meters wide and is about 15 meters high. The machines run 24 hours a day, breakages are very expensive.
Paper Machine Automation
Our engineer co-operated with the paper factory from the start and developed a custom made sensor solution. The challenge was to find a (stainless steel) sensor that can operate in a damp and high temperature environment over a long period of time.
Linear inductive position sensor
- Perfect for use in the paper and pulp industry;
- Durable and robust stainless steel body;
- A loop powered two-wire 4-20mA output;
- High accuracy stand-alone linear inductive position sensor;
- The overall performance, stability, and repeatability are outstanding over a wide temperature range;
- Accuracy of ± 0.25% FS;
- Vibration proof.
